Second Attack in One Day

Despite news that the mangled body of a young woman was discovered this morning on South Beach, the mood at Amity beaches remained calm and lighthearted throughout the morning.

That is until a young boy who had been playing in the water was killed in what appears to be a shark attack.

According to witnesses, Alex B. Kinter, 10, of Amity, was swimming off of crowded Village Beach around 2 p.m. when the raft that he was floating on was pulled underwater and was followed by a pool of blood.

Swimmers hurried desperately out of the blood stained waters and took refuge on shore.

The boy’s body has not yet been recovered. The raft washed up on shore shortly after the incident and with what appeared to be a large bite shaped hole missing from it.

Despite all signs pointing to probable shark attack, Chief of Police Martin Brody refuses to cite it as the cause of death. When asked about the incident, Brody said, “I’ve seen some pretty bizarre things. It’s possible that someone pretended to be a shark and attacked people.”

With two tragic deaths in one day, a shark seems a more plausible culprit.
